Stands tall and proud
Against heaven’s shining light
Its branches king of the forest
Its roots ruler of the earth
What singing bird lands not
Upon swaying elegance
What injured creature takes not
Shelter beneath such strength
The willow tree smiles
To all who make a wish
For it is too
The wisest wishing tree
But the willow holds a secret
A dark, sad secret
Within its swaying beauty
Lies an angel
Oh how the tears of heaven fall
As she weeps to be free
She will never be free
For eternal is the willow tree
